I won’t tell you right away starting from what year but for a long time now women around the world have been struggling with excessive hair in those places where neither they nor their beloved ones want to see it. I don’t know what there was centuries ago but now the ways to get rid of fluff and hair are very diverse. Of course, we are talking about the bikini area as we have a sex blog here.
What does a woman want getting rid of unwanted hair? Firstly, the smoothness. Secondly, the uniformity. Thirdly, the visual satisfaction. Fourthly, to avoid irritation or discomfort. Fifthly, the effect to last as long as possible.
What do I want to talk about first? What the difference between epilation and depilation is! Everyone knows these expressions, everyone has heard them but no one can explain them. So, epilation is plucking. Depilation is the rest.
Now, let’s talk about possible ways of hair removal. There are plenty of them to choose from!
Plucking is also the first way which I will talk about. This method is long-term, its effect lasts from one to two weeks regardless of the tool used – thread, tweezers, wax or electric epilator. What does a good result depend on? Pulling out a hair with its root.
But at this there occurs a hair bulb trauma, possible consequences are ingrown hairs, irritation, inflammation. This method is not recommended for people with high sensitivity because it is quite painful.
The second method is shaving and it refers to depilation. An old and a very simple way. You only need a razor with a good new and sharp blade, the rest is chosen from what is on the shelf in the bathroom. Ideally, you should have a product for shaving and after shaving but in the last resort soap/gel for intimate hygiene and other products will be suitable too.
Simple, fast, not painful. What can you face? Cuts from bad razors though it’s rather difficult to cut yourself with a razor in the 21st century. What are the disadvantages? Hair grows pretty quickly and becomes coarse, and you may have irritation from constant shaving. Always thoroughly moisten the bikini area with special products if you use a razor.
The third way is a chemical depilation. It includes all kinds of bottles marked “depilation” – creams, gels, etc. The same easy way as shaving – simply apply the composition to the skin, and after a specified time remove the composition together with the hair using a spatula or a sponge.
The effect lasts for a couple of days longer than after shaving but depilatory compositions don’t make the hair coarse, they cause irritation very rarely and leave your skin smooth and pleasant longer.
Unfortunately, the side effects can be allergies and chemical burns. Always do a preliminary test of the product on the crease of the elbow or below the knee.
Number four is waxing, bioepilation. A quite painful method but a very effective one, it has come to us from the ancient times. Wax thickens on the skin and is then removed together with hairs. Because a hair is removed with the root, the effect lasts from 2 to 4 weeks. This method also includes wax strips that are sold in any cosmetic store and suitable for home use.
The side effects are frequent burns at home, it is better to do this treatment in a beauty salon, but because this method is painful, not every woman will be bent on this.
The fifth method is sugar hair removal, i.e. sugaring. Sugar paste is applied to the bikini area and removed by hands almost not touching the skin and not causing irritation. This method is fairly painless.
There are no contraindications except idiosyncrasy of the components.
The sixth way is a special epilator for the bikini area. It is very comfortable, plucks hairs with the root, the effect lasts for 2-3 weeks. Many current models have painkilling and massage nozzles, as well as trimmers and so on. Some of them are waterproof, can be used in the bath or shower.
A contraindication is hypersensitivity.
The seventh way is electrolysis. It belongs to those methods which can help you to get rid of the hair forever. This treatment takes long, each hair is given special attention. At least 6 treatments with intervals of 4-6 weeks are necessary for the hair shaft to be destroyed and the hair to stop growing on your body.
Side effects include hyperpigmentation, ingrown hairs, burns and scars. Not every specialist is qualified specifically to work with modern devices. Besides, electrolysis requires a lot of time and a great deal of monetary investment.
Under number eight there is a modern photoepilation. Impulsive flashes of light destroy the hair follicles, all this is done pretty quickly and in vast areas.
A contraindication is tan. And there is a chance that this method may fail to be effective for you.
The ninth method is laser epilation. You will have a steady result after it but you will need to have an individual course of treatments for complete termination of hair growth. Moreover, you need to be in the shadow and use sun protection products before and after the treatment.
There are a lot of contraindications which include light/gray/red hair, hypersensitivity, inflammation, taking some medication. Besides, this method has a number of complications.
The tenth method is enzymic epilation, not the most famous and most popular one. Enzymes of elevated temperature are used and the hair germ cells are destroyed. After the application of the enzyme the hair is removed with wax.
Contraindications include idiosyncrasy of components of the product, prohibition on having thermal treatments.
The last in the list is hair removal with ultrasound. The action is like this – ultrasound plus an inhibitor of germ cells growth, as a result you will have the effect for 2-3 weeks after one treatment and complete termination of hair growth after 10-12 treatments.
A contraindication is prohibition on ultrasound. And again, a lot of side effects such as ingrown hairs, coarse hair or even hematomas.
